Photography Assignment "Decay"

For a class, I had to go to a neighborhood in Baltimore City, and take pictures epitomizing decay. In most areas of Baltimore this would be easy, but I was assigned Mount Vernon. In a city filled with decay, Mount Vernon is the definition of Urban Renewal. This rendered the assignment very difficult to complete.

Crown of Thorns

The Crown of Thorns is a highly invasive species that is damaging Hawaiian reefs. It has a potent neurotxin in its spikes that cause intense pain and vomiting. They are corralivores, meaning they eat corral.

I HAVE THE POWER!

Well, technically, I’m on campus now, which has the power. Posts shall resume!

Lack of Posts

Sorry for the lack of posts, my internet is down, as is my power. I have been charging my phone with my car, but I can’t charge my laptop.

The Leap

Location: The southernmost portion of the United States

The South Point Jump, properly called Ka Lae, meaning The Point, is approximately 60 feet high, and very hard to get to. Nearby are old, disused, wind turbines and some farms. The area is surrounded by very strong currents and high winds, and swimming more than basic jumping is discouraged. The man in the foreground was our groups fearless (assistant) leader.

These platforms, now used for climbing back up, are remnants from the days when ships used to unload there.

Around the jump area is debris from hoists from when fishing vessels used to unload there.
